Why is your simulation important to the field of early childhood?

I believe my study would be able to make a contribution to the field of early childhood education because there is a high percentage of children that are ELL and need the support in order to be prepared for their elementary years of school and further on.

If you were to conduct your simulation proposal, who would benefit?

If I was to conduct my simulation proposal I believe that who would first benefit would be the teachers as well as administrators that can change policies on how to teach children.  Once they see the simulation and get a fully understanding that literacy development supports the learning of early language learner perhaps curriculum would change.

What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?

I believe that my perception has change because there is so many pieces involved when conducting research and the challenges are great.  It is important to know the hypothesis of the research and understand what the variables are if they are independent or dependent.  Also, it is important the research has a design and how will the research collect and analyze the data.  One other important piece when conducting research is the investigating method one will use if either qualitative or quantitative or if one will use a mixed method.  Most importantly who is your participants and who will the audience be.  There are so many pieces of the puzzle that must be considered when conducting research.

  1. Miguel,

My perception of conducting research changed just as yours has. It was interesting to learn how much goes into a research project and how long one can take to conclude. Even after the study is completed, there is still much more to do in order to get it published.
I think teachers and administrators would benefit from your simulation. I know I would have when I had a couple of children in my class who were ESL learners. It would have helped me support them and their needs more.
I wish you much success as you continue on your journey at Walden! Thank you for your support throughout this class.

  2. Miguel,
With the ever changing demographics of many communities in our nation, your research simulation topic is so relevant and can benefit not only professionals within the field but also local community members as well as families. I agree with how important it is to understand all aspects of research and now being able to apply this knowledge will cultivate us all further as early childhood professionals. Thank you for your weekly contributions in the course. It has been wonderful learning not only with you but also from you.
