I was interested in exploring further
the Save the Children website and I was really touched by the emergency alert
they have when you open their website.
It states in red and white “Emergency Alert Armed conflict and a failing
economy are causing severe food shortages in Yemen. Families are forced to choose between food
and other necessities, like water and medicine.
13 million people face starvation – many of the children. Please help”. It was really sad to read something like this
because children are starving when in the US there is so much abundance of food
and people throw away much of it. I liked how the organization is not only in the
US but globally. As they say they are on
the ground helping 120 countries and their focus is on education, health,
disaster relief and protection. I was
very intrigued by looking more into each of the areas they are supporting and I
focused on how they are helping in the area of children’s education. The organization has helped more then 13.8
million children all over the world to have an opportunity to learn. In the US they have helped over 124,000
children in 16 different states as well as their focus is in literacy programs
and what a blessing that they have been able to provide over 400,000 books to children
that are in the need of learning how to read.
I am so impressed with this organization and would love to join in their
efforts to help children in need.
I have been intrigued in learning
more about Head Start Preschool programs that the National Head Start Association
mentions. I will continue to explore the
National Head Start Association, so I can continue to learn more about the
programs and services they offer. It was
very interesting to read that many professionals today like educators, lawyers,
artists, and doctors were once part of this community when they were children,
and these were their first steps to acquiring a life-long learning.

Miguel,
ReplyDeleteI chose Save the Children, too. Their programs that offer education, health care, disaster relief, and hunger relief for children facing crisis touch my heart. When I was reviewing their financial information, I was happy to see that 86% of last year's donations and gifts were allocated to funding their programs. It, also, touched me that Saving the Children was considered one of the first global movements for children. It's been around and providing for children since 1919.
I too chose save the children simply because I've seen the logo and donated here and there with out really knowing the purpose.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in your experience with head start and your interest in the program.
Hello Miguel!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you the emergency alert item within the website is a great way to keep the websites vistors updated about issues in the globe that are occurring that are impacting children. I selected the Save the Children foundation as well as. I look forward to learning about the organization with you.
It seems like Save the Children, not only touched your heart, but all of our hearts as well. I am impressed, too, with their efforts to help and support children and families all around the world and not just in the U.S.. I look forward to learning more about the National Head Start Association from your future posts, as I don't know too much about them.
